What kind of boning do you use? For the boning at the seams, I use white spring steel boning. It is pre-cut and tipped so it has a smooth end, which prevents it from working a hole through your corset. This boning is 1/4" wide, flexible, and has memory, so your corset will gradually mold itself to the shape of your body.
For the boning next to the grommets, I use a much thicker version of the same boning. This prevents buckling when lacing.
I occasionally also use spiral steel. This is a spiral wire boning, very flexible, and perfect for overbust corsets with a curved bust seam. Personally, I find that spiral steel boning is too weak for the rest of the corset, and may buckle or bend up with movement.
